iSNR visits the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the University of Victoria (UVic) in Canada
In an effort to expand international academic exchange and cooperation, Professor Kuan-Jiuh Lin, Director of iSNR, led a delegation of five members to Canada for an eight-day visit from March 9th to 16th, 2024. The delegation engaged with various institutions including the Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), the Department of Chemistry, the Centre for Advanced Materials and Related Technology (CAMTEC), the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems (IESVic) and Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) at the University of Victoria (UVic). Marking the first step of substantive academic cooperation between National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) and Canadian universities.
During the visit, the delegation gained insights into the contributions of Canadian universities to climate change mitigation and environmental protection, as well as their leading position in the field of renewable energy. Discussions were held to establish mechanisms for faculty exchange, short-term exchanges for researchers/students, and formal invitations were extended to members of the visited institutions to participate in future carbon-negative activities organized by iSNR. These activities include the 2024 Net-Zero Taiwan Exhibition and the International Symposium, aimed at establishing diverse international channels for exchange.
