The "2024 International Symposium on Advanced and Sustainable Science and Technology" (ISASST), organized by the College of Science at National Chung Hsing University and co-hosted by various departments and the Innovative Center on Sustainable Negative-Carbon Resources (iSNR), was successfully held on September 11-12, 2024. The symposium was conducted in English and took place in person, attracting numerous scholars and experts from domestic and international backgrounds.
 

In his opening remarks, President Fuh-Jyh Jan of National Chung Hsing University expressed his honor in welcoming scholars and experts from around the world to participate in this internationally oriented symposium. He emphasized that the meeting highlighted the university's commitment to promoting international collaboration and provided a valuable platform for exchange and cooperation within the global academic community. He expressed hopes that this opportunity would lead to in-depth discussions on key challenges in the fields of chemistry, mathematics  & artificial intelligence, and physics, collectively advancing future scientific progress.

Dean of the College of Science, Professor Chia-Chien Huang, also welcomed participants and noted the university's long-standing reputation as one of the oldest and most prestigious academic institutions in central Taiwan since its establishment in 1919. He highlighted that the symposium covered three major fields: chemistry, mathematics and artificial intelligence, and physics, aiming to inspire new ideas, promote interdisciplinary research, and provide innovative solutions to current challenges. ISASST serves as a platform for facilitating international academic cooperation, looking forward to establishing alliances with leading universities worldwide to advance scientific progress together.

The symposium attracted nearly 40 speakers and guests from around the globe and saw over 500 student registrations. Notably, it featured keynote speeches by Professor Katsuyuki Fukutani from the University of Tokyo and Director Hong-Yuan Liao from the Academia Sinica, who shared their latest research findings in their respective fields, greatly benefiting the attendees. With enthusiastic participation and support from students and faculty, the symposium concluded successfully, laying an important foundation for promoting international academic cooperation and injecting new momentum into the future development of sustainable technology.
